jenpachi

on saturday night we went to jenpachi, a japanese steakhouse here in rochester, to celebrate our friends' anniversary with them. chris and rebecca have been married for two years now and are expecting a baby in may. our waiter burned his thumb on the grill, but that didn't keep him from putting on a show for us, including flipping a bowl of rice up into his hat. our other friends who are pictured here are eric and jessica, and then ben and andrea with their daughter ayla.

miss you

my sister just emailed this pic of my nephew joel that was taken quite a while ago, back when he still wore diapers. it's so adorable that it almost made me cry. he's such a sweetheart. the shoes on the wrong foot (his sister's crocs), the mohawk (or fauxhawk), and the saggy diaper are all so endearing. it makes me miss him, makes me miss all my nieces and nephews. why do families have to live so far apart these days? sometimes i wish i lived back in the day when families all lived just a few farmhouses down the road from each other.

alive forever

winn and i have been busy for the past several weeks (along with about 50 others at meadow park church) rehearsing and preparing for the production of a musical called "alive forever." we're very excited about this time of celebration and hope you'll join us for it if you're in the rochester area. for more info, check out our church website: http://www.meadowparkchurch.com/app/.

times are changin'

all my friends are having babies. last year most of our friends were still childless, but this year winn and i are definitely the minority in that area. on saturday morning some of my girlfriends and i had a baby shower for our friend renee. she's due in just a couple weeks. in just the past year six couples who are close friends of ours have either had a baby or are about to have a baby. our get-togethers with them used to go all night but now end in the early evening, and the conversation has turned to which diaper brands to use and what types of formula produce the least amount of spit-up. sometimes we long for the "olden days," but i guess in reality it's a good change. such is life. at any rate, it's been very educational for us. :)

camera reviews anyone?

hey everyone, our digital camera broke, and we're in the market for a new one. so...i thought i'd get suggestions from all of you on what brands/styles that you have and how you like them and advice/suggestions on what kind we might look at and consider? if you don't mind, please post some comments and ideas for us. thanks!

also, a great quote by claude monet that i came across and wanted to share with you: "it is better to have done something than to have been someone."

in-laws

our digital camera is broken, so it's been a while since i've blogged. but i came across this picture of the extended cradic family that was taken at winn's parents' 40th anniversary party last july (i look a little out of place next to all the blondies!). all four kids were there with their spouses and children. i'm really grateful that i have such a wonderful family of in-laws who have been so good to me. they're all beautiful people, inside and out.

up-and-coming artist

these are some pictures that my niece cate drew. obviously, the one with the eyelashes is her mom, and the one with the mustache is her dad. :) i'm also posting a photograph of them so that you can see the amazing likeness.

look-alikes

okay, i found some pics of my niece cate when she was a baby (she's almost five now) and put them up alongside our friends' eight-month-old baby ayla, and i think they could be twins! what do you think? (the first pic is cate, second one is ayla, third one is cate, fourth one is ayla.)

creamer review

this morning i'm enjoying a pot of coffee while working at home. i'm trying a new coffee creamer that's just fabulous, so i wanted to share it with you. it's white chocolate macadamia nut (international delight brand). i guess it's just a special limited edition flavor, so it probably won't be around long. give it a try while you can!
